Artefill® Langhorne, Pennsylvania
ArteFill®: A long lasting solution for wrinkle correction!
Finally! A long lasting solution for our patients who want to smooth way wrinkles and fine lines. ArteFill® is a new kind of injectable that can restore lost collagen to give you younger, healthier looking skin.
What is ArteFill?
ArteFill is the first and only FDA-approved non-resorbable injectable implant used for the correction of facial wrinkles. It contains ArteFill Precision-Filtered Microspheres suspended in a carrier gel of collagen and lidocaine. Following injection, the microspheres remain intact at the injection site and provide a permanent structure to support the wrinkles and help prevent further wrinkling.
Benefits of ArteFill
If you have used injectable fillers in the past and desire a more permanent option you may want to consider ArteFill. Results can last over five years in most patients.
Other dermal fillers use hyaluronic acid, poly-L-lactic acid, or other compounds which break down over time and become reabsorbed by the body. The materials used in ArteFill are not degraded and not absorbed by the body like other dermal fillers which is why the results are much longer lasting.
What To Expect
Here is what you’ll experience as you reduce wrinkles using the ArteFill cosmetic dermal filler:
- First, you’ll meet with one of our cosmetic doctors for a skin analysis to determine the level of wrinkle correction you need and test the skin for allergic reaction.
- In a follow-up appointment, if no reaction was observed, our physicians will administer ArteFill treatment. The number of syringes and number of treatments will be determined at the initial consultation.
- ArteFill contains an anesthetic to ease pain and discomfort of the injection.
- Most patients see immediate results in the appearance of wrinkles and return to work the same day.
Risks & Side Effects of ArteFill
As with any injectable wrinkle filler, you can expect mild swelling and redness at the treatment site. These side effects, common among dermal fillers, are usually temporary. Occasionally, there is mild bruising that typically disappears in three to seven days.
Less common side effects include rash and itching more than 48 hours after treatment, persistent swelling or redness, and increased sensitivity at some or all injection sites. Two other rare potential side effects of all dermal fillers may be lumps and granulomas, both of which can be treated by your physician.
ArteFill FAQs
Do you offer Artefill Injections?
Yes, the physicians administering Artefill at PBS have completed the Artes Medical Physician Training Program and are fully trained in the proper injection technique required for ArteFill Permanent Injectable Implant.
What is ArteFill?
ArteFill is the first and only FDA-approved non-resorbable aesthetic injectable implant for the correction of facial wrinkles known as nasolabial folds, or smile lines. Artefill consists of a combination of ArteFill Precision-Filtered Microspheres, ArteFill Bovine Collagen and lidocaine for comfort.
What are microspheres?
The tiny microspheres in ArteFill are made of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA), one of the widely used synthetic implant materials in medicine. The microspheres in Artefill remain intact at the injection site and provide permanent structural support to correct the wrinkle and keep it from returning.
How does ArteFill work?
The purified bovine collagen gel acts as a carrier for the microspheres in Artefill. Gradually, your body absorbs the injected bovine collagen while the PMMS microspheres remain and provide a permanent support structure below the wrinkle to sustain wrinkle correction.
How long does an ArteFill treatment take?
A typical Artefill treatment only takes about 15–30 minutes. It’s easy to fit it into your lunch hour and you can return to your normal activities immediately.
Will I need more than one treatment?
The doctor will work with you to develop a treatment program to meet your individual needs. Most people get the results they want with one or two treatments, depending on the depth of their wrinkles and folds.
Are the injections painful?
ArteFill is formulated with an anesthetic (lidocaine). The injection technique used to administer ArteFill does not require numerous needle sticks. For additional comfort the doctor will numb the treatment area with a topical or local anesthetic agent.
Are there any side effects?
As with all dermal fillers, side effects may occur. During your initial consultation, the doctor will review your individualized treatment plan and other important considerations.
