About Juvéderm®
Juvéderm is biosynthetic and of non-animal origin. Since it is not created from an animal source and non-protein based, there is little chance of an allergic reaction. The formula is highly biocompatible, and no testing is required prior to administration.
Juvéderm is from Allergan, the makers of Botox® – a name you can trust. The main difference between Juvéderm and other popular hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal fillers is that Juvéderm has a higher concentration of hyaluronic acid and is produced in a process that makes it smoother than the previous generation of HA fillers.
The combination of the higher concentration of hyaluronic acid and the smoother formulation make Juvéderm longer lasting (up to six months or longer) and less painful with injection. Juvéderm has been proven to be safe and effective for skin of all types and colors. As with other hyaluronic acid dermal fillers, Juvéderm is gradually absorbed naturally into the body.

Who will perform my treatment?
A Center For SmartLipo physician will meet with you prior to treatment and perform your injection. Our doctors are highly trained, specializing in cosmetic treatments. You can be sure that your Botox treatment will be administered to achieve optimal, natural looking results.
Am I a candidate for Juvéderm treatment?
Do not use Juvéderm if you:
- have an infection where Juvéderm will be injected
- are allergic to any of the ingredients in Juvéderm
- are pregnant or think you might be pregnant
What should I tell my doctor before using Juvéderm?
Only your doctor can decide if Juvéderm is right for you. Before starting treatment, tell your doctor if you:
- have any diseases that affect your nerves and muscles. These diseases may increase your chance of side effects with Juvéderm treatment
- are breastfeeding
- are planning to become pregnant soon
Can any of my medicines interact with Juvéderm?
Be sure that your doctor knows the names of all the medicines you are using, including:
- antibiotics used to treat infections, such as gentamicin, tobramycin, clindamycin, and lincomycin
- medicines used to treat heart rhythm problems, such as quinidine
- medicines used to treat different conditions, such as myasthenia gravis or Alzheimer’s disease
What pre-treatment precautions should I take?
As with all prescription medications, you should also notify your doctor if you are taking any over-the-counter medicines or herbal products. We recommend that you refrain from use of Aspirin, Ibuprofen, multivitamins. St. John’s Wort, Vitamin E or alcohol for one week prior to treatment to minimize any risk of bleeding or bruising. Consult your primary care physician before discontinuing any prescription medications.
What can I expect post-treatment?
You will notice a slight, temporary redness and elevation in the area of injection due to the Juvéderm fluid being injected directly under the skin. We recommend that you exercise your facial muscles in the treated area 10 times every 10 minutes for the first hour to enhance the absorption of Juvederm. You should not touch or apply make-up to the treated area for at least four hours post-treatment. Most people feel comfortable returning to their normal routine immediately after treatment with slight redness resolving typically within one hour.
