Sagging skin in the neck and jowls can have a considerable effect on the appearance of the face. Aaron L. Shapiro, M.D. is one of the most qualified, board certified facial plastic surgeons in the area, offering a wide range of facial rejuvenation procedures including a necklift.
We offer several different types or techniques for necklift. A traditional necklift is used for patients who need a dramatic improvement in the tightness of skin. Other patients may be candidates for a Silhouette necklift, a minimally invasive technique for patients with early signs of aging. Dr. Shapiro also performs a combination necklift to achieve customized results for patients.
A necklift can be performed with or without a facelift and is among the most popular facial plastic surgery procedures today. A necklift will not only improve your appearance, but will boost self-confidence and restore a healthy, more youthful look.
If you have minor sagging around the neck and lower face, you could be a candidate for a mini neck lift or a Silhouette Neck Lift.
What to Expect
Traditional necklift surgery is performed in an outpatient, private cosmetic surgery center under light general anesthesia. We also offer Silhouette Necklift which is performed as an outpatient procedure under local anesthesia.
To begin, Dr. Shapiro will make a small incision over the lower part of the ear and extend into the hairline behind the ear. The skin will be gently raised to reposition and tighten the underlying muscle and connective tissue. In some cases, liposuction may be used in combination with the necklift to remove excess fat and thin the skin to perform a natural contour and lift.
How Long Will My Results Last?
In general, a necklift will last 10 years or more.* You can increase the longevity of the necklift and maintain the youthful effects by having a healthy skin routine that includes sunscreen and professional skin care products. Other patients may benefit from procedures such as laser skin resurfacing or microdermabrasion.
Our doctors, Dr. Richard Goldfarb and Dr. Aaron Shapiro train other doctors from around the world in the Silhouette Lift procedure. This innovative technique uses a special type of thread that gently lifts the skin without surgery.
How Does It Work?
Silhouette Neck Lift takes about 45 minutes. You will be comfortable and relaxed in our Langhorne office with local anesthetic. The immediate recovery enables the patient to go back to normal activities within 2 days and after 2 weeks the face has recovered its soft and natural aspect, and any signs of the procedure have disappeared.*
Silhouette Lift Step-by-Step:
Step 1: Patient Is Relaxed – The cosmetic doctor will administer local anesthesia to make you more comfortable and relaxed for the procedure. You will remain fully awake, however, and able to communicate with the doctor throughout your treatment.
Step 2: Physician Makes Incision – The cosmetic surgeon will make a small incision in behind the ear.
Step 3: Insertion of Sutures – Using a special device, the Silhouette Sutures™ are inserted into predetermined locations depending on the desired lift.
Step 4: Repositioning the Skin – The Silhouette Sutures are pulled tight for a natural looking lift and secured in place.
Step 5: Closing the Incision – Fine sutures are used to close the incision. The incision site is so small that it generally doesn’t require special dressings or coverings. The cosmetic doctor will review any special care instructions.
Nonsurgical Treatment for Double Chin
Get rid of that double chin, for good! KYBELLA™ is a non surgical treatment for submental fat, commonly called the “double chin”.
What Causes a Double Chin
Submental fat can have a variety of causes, including aging and weight fluctuations. A double chin can affect self confidence in your appearance, often making you appear older than your years.
KYBELLA™ is FDA approved to restore a healthier, youthful profile without the risks, side effects and down time associated with a surgical procedure.
An Innovative New Treatment
*results may vary
KYBELLA™ uses deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring substance in our bodies that breaks down and absorbs fat. Once injected in to the targeted area, KYBELLA™ works to break down the fatty deposits that are creating the “double chin” appearance, rendering the fat cells unable to store fat. This results in a shrinking of the double chin as these cells are gradually flushed out of the body.
