What is Botox?

Botox Cosmetic Langhorne PABotox Cosmetic is a powerful method for treating lines of expression on the forehead, around the eyes, on the nose, and between the eyebrows. Botox is a protein injected under the skin to relax the face by weakening muscles and blocking certain nerves that cause deep wrinkles on the face.

Botox Cosmetic is FDA approved for the temporary treatment of facial expression lines and has been safely used for over 15 years for cosmetic purposes.

Botox for Excessive Sweating

If underarm sweating is significantly interfering with your daily activities and topical agents haven’t worked, you may be a candidate for Botox treatment.

Botox is FDA-approved for severe underarm sweating that is not adequately managed with topical agents. Botox treatment helps control hyperhydrosis (excessive sweating) by temporarily blocking the chemical signals from the nerves that stimulate the sweat glands. When the sweat glands don’t receive chemical signals, the severe sweating stops. Treatment effect typically lasts nine months.*

Botox For Chronic Migraines

Botox has been used successfully for over 15 years to treat a variety of aging and health concerns as one of the first FDA approved injectables and have recently been approved as a preventive treatment for patients who experience chronic migraines: defined as 15 or more days each month with headache lasting 4 or more hours each day in people 18 years or older.

Botox has proven effective when used to treat chronic migraines as defined as a preventive therapy: Dr. Patel will inject Botox every 12 weeks for the prevention of recurring migraine headaches, providing up to 9 days of relief per month.*

Chronic migraines disrupt the daily lives of many patients- if you suffer from headaches more than 15 days per month, schedule an appointment at the Center for Smart Lipo. It is important that Dr. Patel evaluate your medical history prior to treatment to determine if Botox is right for you.

Botox FAQs

Who will perform my Botox treatments?

One of our cosmetic doctors will meet with you prior to treatment and perform your injection. Our physicians are highly trained, specializing in cosmetic treatments. You can be sure that your Botox treatment will be administered to achieve optimal, natural-looking results.

What should I tell my doctor before receiving Botox?

Only your doctor can decide if Botox Cosmetic is right for you. Before starting treatment, tell your doctor if you:

  • have any diseases that affect your nerves and muscles. These diseases may increase your chance of side effects with Botox Cosmetic treatment
  • are breastfeeding
  • are planning to become pregnant soon

What pre-treatment precautions should I take?

As with all prescription medications, you should also notify your doctor if you are taking any over-the-counter medicines or herbal products. We recommend that you refrain from the use of Aspirin, Ibuprofen, multi-vitamins, St. John’s Wort, Vitamin E or alcohol for one week prior to treatment to minimize any risk of bleeding or bruising. Consult your primary care physician before discontinuing any prescription medications.

What should I expect post-treatment?

You will notice a slight, temporary redness and elevation in the area of injection due to the Botox fluid being injected directly under the skin. We recommend that you exercise your facial muscles in the treated area 10 times every 10 minutes for the first hour to enhance the absorption of Botox.

You should not touch or apply make-up to the treated area for at least four hours post-treatment. Most people feel comfortable returning to their normal routine immediately after treatment with slight redness resolving typically within one hour.*
