Age, stress, anxiety- all of these factors take a toll on our physical appearance. The Center For SmartLipo & Plastic Surgery offers a number of non-surgical options for facial rejuvenation.

Dysport® is one of the many injectable facial fillers that we offer to help you turn back the clock and achieve a more refreshed and youthful appearance. Like Botox, Dysport® relaxes the muscles in the forehead that cause worry lines and frown lines.

Dysport®: What To Expect

Dysport® is a prescription injection that temporarily improves the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines in the forehead. Similar to Botox®, Dysport® contains the botulinum toxin and is FDA approved for the treatment of facial wrinkles and blepharospasm.

Dysport® Vs. Botox®

Though Botox® and Dysport® are a very similar type of treatment, they are produced by different manufacturers and can create different effects. The doctors at the Center For SmartLipo & Plastic Surgery are familiar with a wide range of injectable treatments and can help you select the right treatment for your skin type and condition.

The results of Dysport® are very similar to Botox®. Most patients see an immediate improvement in the appearance of their faces with results lasting approximately 3 – 4 months.

Dysport® FAQs

Who will perform my treatment?

One of our cosmetic doctors will meet with you prior to treatment and perform your injection. Our physicians are highly trained, specializing in cosmetic treatments. You can be sure that your Dysport® treatment will be administered to achieve optimal, natural-looking results.

Am I a candidate for Dysport® treatment?

Do not use Dysport® if you:
• have an infection in the area to be treated with Dysport®
• are allergic to any of the ingredients in Dysport®
• are pregnant or think you might be pregnant

What should I tell my doctor before using Dysport®?

Only your doctor can decide if Dysport® is right for you. Before starting treatment, tell your doctor if you:

• have any diseases that affect your nerves and muscles. These diseases may increase your chances of side effects with Dysport® treatment
• are breastfeeding
• are planning to become pregnant soon

Can any of my medicines interact with Dysport®?

Be sure that your doctor knows the names of all the medicines you are using, including:

• antibiotics used to treat infections, such as gentamicin, tobramycin, clindamycin, and lincomycin
• medicines used to treat heart rhythm problems, such as quinidine
• medicines used to treat different conditions, such as myasthenia gravis or Alzheimer’s disease

What pre-treatment precautions should I take?

As with all prescription medications, you should also notify your doctor if you are taking any over-the-counter medicines or herbal products. We recommend that you refrain from the use of Aspirin, Ibuprofen, multi-vitamins, St. John’s Wort, Vitamin E or alcohol for one week prior to treatment to minimize any risk of bleeding or bruising. Consult your primary care physician before discontinuing any prescription medications.

What can I expect post-treatment?

You will notice a slight, temporary redness and elevation in the area of injection due to the Dysport® fluid being injected directly under the skin. We recommend that you exercise your facial muscles in the treated area 10 times every 10 minutes for the first hour to enhance the absorption of Dysport®.

You should not touch or apply make-up to the treated area for at least four hours post-treatment. Most people feel comfortable returning to their normal routine immediately after treatment with slight redness resolving typically within one hour.
