Microblading – A Highly Effective Method of Amplifying Eyebrows
Tired of using pencils, powders, gels, or stencils to shape and enhance your eyebrows?
Our skilled artist and aesthetician, Janine Slater, has won Best of Philly for microblading and received a similar honor from Allure. She has appeared on Fox and Good Day Philadelphia, as well as 6 ABC’s FYI Philly. She was also featured in Philadelphia Magazine and Philly Style.
Your eyebrows do a lot of work in framing your face and eyes. Just a slight adjustment to your eyebrows can go a long way in giving yourself a more natural-looking, youthful appearance. At Center for SmartLipo, we are proud to now offer microblading services to our patients.
Microblading is a more long-lasting fix that promises to change your brow life. It can dramatically correct or completely rebuild missing eyebrows. Microblading is excellent for those wanting to improve their brows or for those who have sparse, thinning, or almost no eyebrows.
What is Microblading?
Microblading is a cosmetic procedure that involves making small, shallow incisions in the skin with a blade, then coloring them in with special ink. The result is more natural than traditional tattooing, and it’s a great way to cover sparse eyebrows or to create the perfect eyebrow shape.
During the process, our cosmetic specialist inserts pigment under your skin with a manual handheld tool that contains tiny, fine-point needles. She will create hair-like strokes with the tool to mimic natural eyebrow hair. This pigment remains underneath the skin to create semi-permanent full brows.
Many patients compare microblading to tattoo’d make up. However, it’s important to know that the pigmented strokes will eventually fade away over time. Additionally, the pigment is less concentrated than it is with a regular tattoo to allow the strokes to appear thinner and more hairlike.
How long does Microblading last?
Depending on your skin type and care, the pigment will fade slowly over 18-24 months. Touch-up appointments are available to ensure that your brows stay luscious and full over time. To ensure your desired, long-term results, follow our aesthetician’s aftercare instructions closely.
Do not get your brows wet for a week after your initial microblading appointment. Additionally, do not pick at any small scabs that might form as your body heals around the pigment. These should go away on their own within a week. We will provide more custom aftercare instructions after your procedure.
Is Microblading painful?
Pain is relative to the patient. Most patients report that the pain is mild to none. If you’ve ever had your eyebrows threaded before, the sensation is similar to that. Our procedure uses anesthetic to help the patient feel more comfortable. From start to finish, microblading should only take about an hour to complete, so you will not be uncomfortable for too long.
Are the results truly natural-looking?
The goal with microblading is to achieve a “your brows but better” result. We create pigments that closely match your natural or desired brow color, so the results can depend on the person’s skin type and brows. However, rest assured that our skilled artist will make sure that your brows are multidimensional and filled-in only to your desired fullness. Microblading results from cheaper alternatives are not always natural-looking, so make sure you visit reputable estheticians like our team at Center for SmartLipo and Plastic Surgery.
