Radiesse® FAQs
What sets Radiesse® apart from other dermal fillers?
Radiesse® is made of tiny calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres that form a scaffold through which your body’s own collagen can grow. This produces the desired long-term effect making Radiesse® the ideal choice for facial shaping and contouring.
Is there anything I should do to prepare or my treatment?
We recommend that you avoid the use of aspirin, ibuprofen, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, Ginko Biloba, garlic, flax oil, cod liver oil, multivitamins, vitamin A, vitamin E, or any other blood-thinning medication for at least 10 days prior to treatment and for 24 hours after treatment. This will help to prevent bruising and bleeding. Please consult your primary care physician before discontinuing the use of any prescription medication. We also ask that you remove any make-up in the treatment area prior to your appointment.
What can I expect in my treatment?
When you arrive we will review your medical history, answer your questions and discuss your expectations. Your skin will be cleansed and a topical anesthetic agent will be applied to treated areas for 45 minutes to help minimize any discomfort you may experience. Radiesse will be injected through a very fine needle under the appropriate hand or facial planes of your skin needed for augmentation and contouring.
Is there any downtime?
Radiesse® treatment involves a simple office visit. You will see some mild swelling and redness at the injection sites that may last 1–2 days.* In most cases, you can return to your routine activities immediately following your treatment.
